'05, 6.0 PSD Ex... Just finished my remote start install. When the system powers on, the accy panel lights up, lights flash, fuel pump activates, then it cranks the engine, but no start. Can start with key with no problem, What am I missing? Would it have something to do with the Anti-Theft system (the truck doesn't have an alarm, just the Anti-Theft light flashing on the cluster)?

This might seem like a silly question, but do you have a glow plug delay going and if so, is the delay enough?
Other then that, I would say either the wiring is off or a faulty unit. I know on the Viper remote I have there was no issue with the anti-theft already on there, but I don't know what system you have on there.
just a thought, my buddy had remote start (on a gasser) and had to set the parking brake to use it, you recall wiring anything into that little sensor at all? if not the reason it wont start is the FICM isnt being told to let the injectors do their job, hence the cranking but no go. it could have been as simple as tying into the harnes after a relay when it needed to be before the relay, ya know what im getting at? just double check you tied everything in at the right spot.
I have a 2005 F250 Harley Edition with the PATS key and was considering equipping my truck with a remote start. Someone told me that vehicles so equipped will not work with a remote start unless you ziptie a spare key inside the steering column to signal the transponder. If true then that certainly defeats the purpose of having the security key. Mine has already saved me once in Baltimore back in 2007 when I came out of my motel to find the driver's side door lock punched in and the ignition lock cylinder beat up.
Ok fellas, I'm about to start throwing tools, (not really, but I feel like it)..... Installed a Presitgue Remote Start (took out of wife's Blazer)..... Got in installed, and will remote start with key in proximity. Learned that I needed a PATS bypass.. Purchased a XPresskt model-PKFM.. Wired in as install said... now I can't get the (*&(^( thing to start.. engine just turns over until battery is drain or I shut down the remote start.
The only two things I can come up with is the negative input to the PKFM bypass isn't getting the negative amperage it needs to communicate or it's not programming to the keys. (followed key program instructions)( step 3 says to immediately start the veh w/ remote start, however it has the delay for the glow plugs to fire, not sure if it's taking too much time until start to finalize programming)(and the damn install directions don't say how many neg amps it takes to effectively communicate)
Not sure what to do next, really getting bent about the situation..
Yea, I'm beginning to think I should have taken it to the freckle faced 16 yr old at the stereo install store to tell me how dumb I am. But, always trying to same money.
I'm betting it's something simple and I'm just missing it.
try putting one of the pats keys in the vicinity of the pats module under the steering column and trying the remote start. Thats how a lot of places installed remote starts on the pats vehicles when they first came out. If it works you can program an extra key (using 2 factory keys) and cut the metal key part off the end so it can't be used to start the truck... though this effectively bypasses the pats system.

The Pats module itself is wrapped around the ignition itself, you would have to take the collar off the steering column and place a programmed, cut (just the top of the key with the resistor) key inside the the PATS receiver and you should be good to go.
As mentioned, it effectively bypasses the PATS, but that's what you have the alarm for.
