Headlight out

My passenger headlamp is out, high beam works fine, but low is out, BTW it's not the bulb, there is no power going to it.
Are the headlamps on a relay under the hood, and one post possibly dead, no way they are fused independently? I replaced the light switch, what a waste of cash that was, had nothing to do with it, even have a bulb, and I have to replace the socket, the locking tab is off. No way this can be done easily as I have to do so much even after I fix the dead end.

OK, neither high or low work on the passenger side, I pulled the headlamp and unplugged the harness that is behind it on the passenger fender, I checked everything with my volt-meter to find those wires to be dead. I found the lighting runs around the engine bay and to the grill assembly from the passenger side, I guess it comes off to the light switch and branches to right/left feeds inside, under the dash, maybe from the high beam switch.

Not sure what year your van is Maples but there might be individual H/L fuses inside the cabin. Check that inside fuse block. On my '00 E250 fuses #25, 30 & 31 protect high and low beams.

First time I noticed the fuse ports for right and left H/L's I was surprised---not something I was accustomed for many many years before.

OK, was a missing fuse, not sure how that got out without my knowledge, and the socket popped off of the bulb, so after I had placed a fuse in, it wasn't working. I do find it strange that each bulb has it's own fuse, and I hate the location of the panel, it's difficult to get at the fuses in the top, guess where the parking lights are.

Yeah those fuses are indeed in hard to see or reach slots------maybe coz they typically don't blow? I only happened to notice them while looking over the fuse block layout and identification sheet in my EVTM-----was looking for another fuse slot originally.

Glad ya found it!

I was pulling and checking, I must have put 31 back in a different spot, but my biggest question, why would I have had one left out, doesn't make sense, the last time it was really dealt with was 9 years ago when the dealer had to replace the entire fuse box, expensive and they didn't give me a lid.

I didn't know there was a lid or cover available for the inside fuse box, only those located under the hood.

But yeah once upon a time while installing one of the smaller fuses I had its tabs misalignned with the terminal sockets and "stretched" them enough they no longer held the fuse properly. A magnifying glass and bright light along with a lot of patience fixed it but I'm much more careful now.

Yeah, mine had the lid when I bought it, one of the locking tabs had broken off, after the fuse box was replaced, it refused to stay on, it had the fuse ID inside it, I really miss it. I might see if I can get another from the dealer, it had a fuse puller in it, didn't work tho.
