I have a 2000 excursion I got last august has 6 inch lift. 35 tires I'm running at 50psi.front springs an blocks on rear. It'll bounce u clear out seat just small bump n road.wheel hops fast speed like on highway.was wondering bout double shock kits.any help would be apreciated...I'm at point were thnkn bout taking lift off
I have an 04 with a 6" lift and single shocks and it rides fine. With close to 30 yrs automotive mechanical experience behind me, it safe to say your shocks are blown. Before you start replacing things, you can remove one and see how much effort it takes to collapse and extend the shock. It should take the same effort to move the shock either way, unless its gas then you won't be able to collapse it.
On mine the shocks are showing a bunch of rust (I hate Colorado) so there going to be replaced with Zinc Bilstiens. I hope this helps
I have blocks in the back of mine with just plain jane aftermarket shocks. It doesnt bounce like u describe..It rides pretty good actually. I dont like having big lift blocks so ill be upgrading to lift springs.
My front also had just plain aftermarket shocks that came with the lift kit. I have upgraded to fabtechs dual dirtlogic res shocks though. It rode the same with the cheap shocks as it does with the nice upgraded shocks (until u go offroad, then the dirtlogics blow them away).
I agree pull off ur shocks and see if there wasted. If they are or u think there iffy id def try some new ones. But ur description sounds like ur describing a harsh ride though, not a mushy ride (blown shocks). And major out of balance issue (which I guess with blown shock could def cause bad wheel hop).
I was wondering bout shocks been wore out.ill try take one off tonite n see how it is.post info. Its not a rigid ride like guy earlyer stated its just bounces all over road like riding on springs lol remides me of car in highschool I had a cadilac coupe with hydralics....rides bout same
Definitely sounds like shocks, if they are good you cannot hardly press them closed once they extend. I have 6in of lift on my truck as well, all spring and it actually rides very nicely with 35's and Bilstein shocks!
Alrite took top off of fronts an both are shot! No resistance compressing. Lil bit extending. So guesse time to spend some cash....
What's the best ride. My beast very rarely sees off road.and having brand new baby aboard in couple mnths.what's suggestions out there? Is double shockn worth money sure looks bada$$.
