Need help on choosing shocks

Since I found out that my fronts shocks are borderline shot I'm going to replace all 4 but I want to have some adjustable shocks that don't lift the truck so that rules out the Rancho RS9000xl that I have been thinking about. Anyone have suggestions?

Shocks do not lift your truck. Are you saying that the 9000's only come in a size for lifted trucks? I thought I had heard that.

I wouldn't bother with adjustables anyway, just get the Bilstiens and never have to buy another set.

Shocks won't lift a truck, but a stiff enuf shock will definitely prevent sag, and thus give the impression of lift.

Air shocks will give lift...

I'd get a set of Rancho 5000's. It's what came from the factory on the FX4 models...

I haven't had a problem with the Rancho's that came with the truck, I'm on my second set and they endure the worst dirt roads in America pretty well.

Bilstiens are the best you can get though, through what i've heard.

I'm looking now at the Ranchos that I wanted since the price per shock is much more bareable than the ~$150 per shock that Bilstein wants.

Get what makes you happy. When it comes to something like shocks, as long as you get a good quality product, just get the best you can afford and what you're gonna be happy with. If you don't, you'll be kickin' yourself in the butt in the long run.....

You can't go wrong with Ranchos, though. I like the Pro Comps and Skyjackers, too.

Thanks for the help guys now I have enough info to make a case to my father (the actual owner of the truck) on both Bilstiens and Ranchos

Its not too bad he lets me do just about anything I want to the truck so long as I don't simply waste money and he covers insurance and major repairs like in this case the whole front suspension.

Then I'd hit 'im up for the Bilsteins. I love me some Rancho, but Bilstein is really good stuff. If you can get a good deal, I think you'll get your dollar's worth in the long run...
