my back up lights not to work? I have an '85 Bronco Automatic with the C6 transmission. I've traced all the wires to my back up lights and they are all fine. They never work, whether I'm shifting into reverse from Park or Neutral. I have absolutely no problems starting the truck in Park or Neutral, and as far as I can tell, there is no back up light switch on this Automatic, or is there? Any ideas? I'm running into a lot of weird electrical issues and this is one more that has me baffled.
Yeah, and that's what I was thinking too. I suspect I have more digging to do. I even crawled under the truck with the ignition on and the gear shifter in Reverse. Jiggled it at the column and the linkage and nothing. Somewhere, I must have a short. My courtesy lights work when I open the doors or turn them on with my switch. The cockpit lights don't however. I have the older style dome light that uses two cockpit lights and one center light. The two cockpit lights don't work when I turn the switches on. They do work though. I direct wired them to check and the switches work fine. I have the same problem in the cargo area with the light there. It comes on when the doors open, but not when the switch on the light itself is pressed. I have to think that this is all tied into the back up light issue. Like I said, I'm just really at a loss to expalin what is going on.
