Backup lights? What backup lights?

I have a 1987 F250 Diesel, if that matters but I thought my back up lights went out so I replaced the bulbs and still nothing. I noticed the sockets looked in bad shape so my son got some backup light sockets from the local JY. I connected them and still nothing. I have a c6 automatic transmission. Where is the backup light switch? I saw some wiring on the tranny but I want to make sure before I start "fixing" the wiring

reverse light switch/neutral safety switch is on the side of the trans under the shifter arm.

That switch also is for the park neutral safety switch, which uses two red wires with a blue stripe. You want the other ones.
