reverse lights

I'm trying to find the reverse light power wire. It looks to be a black with red stripe. But, I get nothing when I hook it up.

Does the ignition have to be on?

I'm concerned my neutral position switch is boogered up, but it does keep it from starting when not in nuetral or park.

Any advice appreciated...well, almost any advice :-)

Switch has to be in the "on" position for the backup lights to work, it's that way on mine anyways.

Ya, back up is only with key ON.

What is booger'd with neutral switch?? Do you have to hold the shifter UP to make it start?? This is typical. The switch on bottom of column is on a slide mount. You need to adjust it over a bit so it pushes on switch more when in Park.
