Hey, everyone. I asked this before, got the answer and didn't get around to it until now. I am having a hard time searching on my phone. Opera Mobile web browser on an 'old now' Nokia E71 is slow and tedious.
The window I need to replace is the driver's door vent window. The one you can rotate. Ya'll know what I mean lol.
I got the door panel off, easy. I remember being told that the window is attatched in two spots and I see that. The one that is near the top and outside looks like something that's been pressed in. My tool collection isn't much. I have all sorts of ratchets, extensions, sockets and wrenches. My garage was once my papaw's and although he died before I was born, I find receipts of him rebuilding engines (for $250 and such) and there are a lot of tools there. Antique at that. Lots of things he made himself. He was a genius. But anyways, I guess I can get the outside pressed part out. But my problem comes at the bottom nut. I can't get to it. I can barely see there is a nut beneath what looks like a spring. Anyone have a pointer on how to get this window out? I was going to go to a pull-a-part junkyard and get one, but I can't until I know how lol.
My other idea was possibly ordering just the replacement glass, scraping the broken glass in the grooves out and getting some glue/sealant and sliding one in. Dunno exactly which way to go and what to do. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.
The easy way to change this out, would be to remove the 2-3 screws from the outside of the door frame along the front, and the one bolt along the lower front window channel. The wing window frame also serves as the front window channel below the top of the door panel.
Taking it apart at the pivot points will make it nearly impossible to get back together.
Thanks for the help, everyone. Ill give that write up a shot when it cools down outside. The only thing I'm afraid of is taking the main door window out, lol. I'll see how it feels, I just don't want to mess something up and not be able to get it back in.
