I believe they were used on country estates for going out hunting birds. My grand father sold insurance to farms and ranchers and had pictures of cars like that with bird dogs in back. He would spend weekends with clients hunting their
ranches out in the boonies as it was too long a ride back to civilization on the roads back then.
Hmmmm... I was up in Vermont this summer & I stopped in
& helped a young man out with this truck. It wouldn't start & it was his dad's truck ....
I think he didn't want to call home for help as he might have borrowed it....
We got it started & off he went.
I'm not sure it's history - but it looks like a cousin of the truck posted above.
(I can't get the pics to show up correctly...sorry)
If I had come upon that truck the wood panels would have been warped to hell by the drool I would have left all over them. I've seen a few odd trucks up here but they all were working trucks sitting in fields or behind building rotting away. I've never seen cool truck like that.
This image was posted on FB. It looks like a screenshot from a game but I'm sure someone posted a real truck like this, it could have been in this thread somewhere but there's a bazillian pages, just too many to look through. Looks like a '56 cab with a '51/52 front clip.
I dont remember if ive posted this before.
48-50 car hauler. The cab top is cut off, I cant imagine a very tall driver sitting there with cars right on top of you?
I'll have to get some closer up pics.

Maybe that was a ramp truck to unload cars off of a train or some kind of tall double decker transport truck, plane or ship. , Doug.
