That would be the kit. The "intake stretcher" bit was a tongue-in-cheek crack...... Kinda like the "log stretcher" or "pipe stretcher" gags that are always pulled on the newbs.
I think all the spare FE intakes have been turned in for scrap given how much material they have in them. I still can't believe I put that cast iron manifold on my new '72 390 by myself in the driveway. Youth!
Well, Ray is supposed to be here in an hour or so. We'll let y'all know what codes we get and how we do with the other planned jobs. Think the return line is #1 and then find the grind - the grinding noise he's hearing. Probably one of those disc brake shields is touching the rotor.
Thread is complete!! Last night Gary and I put the truck up on the lift and removed the rear tank. We drained 6 gallons out of it, which was more than I have ever put into it. The gauge was showing empty. It was still HALF FULL!! Apparently the return line has been moving some of my gas from the front tank to the rear tank. Anyhow, we got it out, removed all the extra fuel lines, and now I have NO problems with fuel delivery or anything! Whewww. THANKS GARY for all the help!
Actually, he's smarter than I am. He realizes it takes LOTS less to bring a vehicle up to snuff if it is clean to start with than it does to start w/a sow's ear like I'm doing/did/might do. But, I rationalize it as I'm saving a vehicle that otherwise would have been destroyed, left to rot, or otherwise blot the landscape. So, I'm going GREEN!
As for being bad influences, we do seem to have an effect on otherwise sane people.
I'm going green as well, in many ways. Dad's truck is green, it's been well kept for it's age, and I'm even considering rejetting the carb for E85 (cheap "Go Fast" juice), along with all the stuff you mentioned. It takes more energy and resources to build a new vehicle, and therefore more pollution, than an older one in good condition produces.
I've never been considered as the greatest influence on others, I even frequently wear a shirt that proclaims "WARNING: Does not play well with others". I can't find one like I had a few years ago that added "Seems 'others' have a problem with losing"......
Yep, as Gary and Ray both prolly know, I can be quite the "Character" at times.
Oh, and that flairside.... If I had the time and money, I'd jump on it. A mild (sorta) 302 or 351W, C6 and F150 suspension, along with a few upgrades here and there, it would make a really cool toy. I have always liked the stepside trucks, but I tend to use a truck too much to actually own one a stepside.
Sorry for the slow response, been running errands with the Hottie Wife. Gary and I didn't get around to pulling the codes again. We will soon though I am sure.

Oddly enough, the truck comes w/a 302 & C4 out of a '74 Comet. He says it has ~50k miles on it as he pulled it from his aunt's car. Pan was wrong for a PU so he put another pan and oil pump on it. Tried to turn it over, I think by hand as it isn't in the truck, and something hit and he just left it. In case he has the wrong pan I have the one off the 351W that was in the parts truck, and I'm pretty sure that'll fit a 302 since the difference is in the deck height not the bottom end.
As for "mild", I didn't post the pic of the Edelbrock 302 4 bbl manifold he has, but that and the Holley off the 351 HO would look good on there. And I think I'd rather have the 650 CFM Edelbrock he has than the Holley on the HO, so that swap would play out. Also, I have the C6 outta the brown parts truck or the one out of the HO truck, so won't have any drive shaft work to do since the Stepside came w/a C6.
As for the suspension, do the F100's just have different rear axle shafts and front hubs? IOW, do I have to swap the whole rear axle awa the I-beams? I'll have plenty of both, but would rather minimize the work - although it actually might be easier to swap the whole rear axle than the shafts.
Bottom Line: What's a dolled up Stepside worth? I sure don't need another truck, but if I can make something out of all the pieces available then maybe I should do it.
C4/C6 will physically interchange fine, as they share the same length and output shaft size. A stock 74 302 from a car is likely going to need a bit of help, as in new timing chain/gears and better cam. The claimed low miles help as far as overall wear, but the engine really should be torn apart for a full replacement of all rubber pieces. Gonna go that far, might as well swap to some better pistons. 74 would have dished "teacup" pistons.
A 351W would give better power, but could cost more to build than a low mile 302.
As for the axles, they should be a direct swap. The housing should be the same, just the axles and full brakes for the rear. Up front, I believe the I-beams are the same, but it's easier to swap the complete beams than taking apart both sets at the ball joints. Everything from the ball joints out would need swapped.
No clue what it be worth. I suppose a lot depends on the condition of the rest of the truck.
BTW, that edelbrock 1406 carb is a 600 w/electric choke. They were tuned slightly leaner than the 1405 manual choke 600, which is the one I have. Still, I'm with you about prefering it on the HO over the holley. Of course, it will need the kickdown linkage adapter and throttle cable adapter kit to work right. Edelbrock carbs are a bit wider than a holley, so the throttle cable bracket has to be relocated. Edelbrock offers a kit for each of the different engine "families", since they are all a bit different.
