ECT, EOT temps high.

As you guys remember my post not so long ago about my ECT, EOT being high. About 210 EOT and 205 ECT empty city driving @71 degrees outside. or 215-220 EOT and 210 ECT Towing 6k @ 75 degrees.

Tomorrow i plan on changing my coolant and changing my thermostat out to see if thatll help cooler her down. What would you recommend to use on the coolant flush for coolant?? And tips?

Also, my truck threw a P528 Code and was gonna change out the sensor that keeps throwing the code as it has to do with the cooling fan speed. Does anybody have a part number?

Also my cooling fan is hard to turn by hand when the trucks off. Should that be a concern?

BTW, Oil, EGR cooler and EGR valve replaced 10k ago. So im going to need to add a coolant filter after this flush.

So your oil is cooling your coolant? Your getting a trouble code for a cooling fan? 2+2=? Your engine is running hot and you cooling fan is not up to speed? Maybe I'm missing something from your earlier post.

You might want to check out this thread. Seems a lot of people have similar temps.

This may help with the flush.

The engine cooling system cools the oil.

There's nothing wrong with those temps IMO.

And towing in the city with 6,000# just might fit that service range.

When I'm towing my travel trailer of 8.000#, I see those temps. Of course, temps will vary with road changes, hills (up or down), wind, city.

Rolling up I-5 basically level, my temps will run ECT 205-216 EOT 210-225.

Going up a grade in the Cascades? ECT=218 EOT = 230. It's not at 230 for very long, but it does get there.

I'm not concerned with those.

What coolant should i use? Motorcraft gold or ELC? I think i am gonna flush the system with VC-9 and simple green after and change the thermostat to be on the safe side. After all it is my work truck and my lively hood haha

Those temps are higher than in your opening post. If you see 225° towing, that is on the high side. Did your fan come on? I start to hear my fan at about 217° and it will knock the temp down pretty quickly. I would only see 225° towing on good sized hills, and my fan would be roaring. Never around town.

If you don't have a warranty to be concerned with, I would go with Shell ELC. I plan to use that next time, but it will be a while. Plans could change.

Yes the fan came on, multiple times. The temps in my other post were different because of the outside temp and ive noticed the temps fluctuating alot lately

And yes, i have a 200k Ford ESP for Diesel motors. So i have a warrenty to worry about. I guess ill be using the motorcraft gold as a coolant. Whats better about the Shell ELC and why does it mess with your warrenty?

I don't think there's a problem with the ELC itself, but if you ever have to make a warranty claim you might run into a problem since it's not approved by Ford for use in the 6.0.

I agree that your temps aren't bad, Matt...maybe a bit toward the high side of normal. You might try cleaning the squashed bugs, dirt and other stuff that has accumulated in the ac condenser, radiator and intercooler and see if that helps. Worth a try, and it doesn't cost anything but a little bit of your time.

Steve, ill try that! Stopped at the dealership to talk to my diesel tech and he said i should skip the coolant flush with VC-9. He said he flushed it with VC-9 when he did the oil/egr cooler 10k miles ago and got alot out. He said clean my radiator out, change T-S-tat and be prepared to get a new cooling fan soon.
