June open chat thread!
The day looks to be hot, most of the state will over 100....and with only 4-6% humidity we are dryer then a popcorn fart....praying for rain to help the firefighters. It was 76 at 3AM !
Goodmorning everyone!
Have a great Saturday. We're not doing much today - I think. Tomorrow though, hubby & I are taking the Harley out for a group ride with friends around Lake Tahoe.

Guys! I went to the "Tank Tour" at the Military Vehicle Technology Foundation in Portola Valley yesterday. If you have not yet seen it, you HAVE to see it. It's not optional at this point for any red blooded American males. It's required. It's about 200 pieces of military "equipment" and lots more military weapons and memorabilia. Highlights include the half track used in the end of The Dirty Dozen, several Shermans, two SCUD launchers, an enormous radar truck, and literally tanks from both sides of every conflict since WWI. Most are restored but some range from good used to needing restoration. I took 170 pics and put them in my photobucket site here: Military Vehicle Tour 6-25-11 pictures by FatDiesel - Photobucket
The Dirty Dozen half track, Indiana Jones motorcycle and side car, and a motorcycle half track that Spielberg and Hanks came down to record sounds used in Saving Private Ryan!

SCUD

That's pretty freakin' awesome Andy!
Is this a mobile event, where they are only there at Portola for a finite time? Or a permanent facility there? I've never heard of this event. I'd like to see it, for sure. But been busier than a dog with four hind legs lately... (hint - two of 'em in the middle)
I love old military stuff like that. Especially air craft, but that's a pretty impressive display.

Hi everyone!
Hope you had a blessed Sunday.
We took the kids to the sitter & we met up with 4 others motorcyclists on Harleys. We took off from Carson City, NV., went through Genoa & up Kingsbury Grade. Went all the way around Lake Tahoe, stopped for lunch, then came down Kingsbury grade & stopped off at the Genoa bar before heading back to Carson City. What a awesome day for a ride!
Planning on another ride next Saturday. If anyone has a bike that wants to join us, let me know. I think we're all meeting at the Carl's Jr. (Gottschalks Mall) in Carson City at 11am & taking off from there. The more the merrier!
