Just got back from wheelin! Lots of high water, driving through the streams, mud, a near worthless defroster, did quite a bit of logging with my front bumper! Only bad thing is that the more rotten side of my bed, collapsed Oh well, more motivation to build a new one eventually!
That sounds like it was a lot of fun! Dag nab it!
This day could not go quick enough. I am off to Foxwoods tomorrow night with my brother to see comedian Jim Gaffigan. Should be a lot of fun, besides being at an over-crowded casino of smoker's.
Just about to start a three day weekend in Maine, of painting, cleaning and other typical work associated with preparing the family cottage for the summer.
I wanna replace the wood with diamond plate, but I hear that new diamond plate is expensive. Might head to the junkyard and find an old wrecker or something and cut out a big slab of diamond plate from that.
You might want to check your options at Mid City Steel in Bozrah. They have a website. Sometimes when you call, the call get re-routed to a Mass office. They do have a steel that dump trucks use that is cheaper and is more abrasive resistant.
My uncle just went through this with his '77 F150 step side, I had suggested using a regular short bed as the foundation. If you can find one at a scrap yard or something and just cut the sides off and weld your sides on.
Never thought of that before, but that is a good Idea, I do know where there is one shortbed sitting in the junk yard!

Thanks for the tip, that sounds good too! I'll have to figure out what will be the best/cheapest way to do this.
Early afternoon CT... haven't been around this part of the forums much. Still having a well storied set of issues with this truck and the dealership I buy from. Needless to say, I should be at Valenti next week with it, and if this works out, any future business. Also looking at getting myself into a little manual 4 pop car to save on some gas, I'm tired of borrowing my grandmother's 99 Sable
I REALLY need to get out there with you guys. I miss wheeling back in CO! When are you getting back from your trip, or when do you leave, rather? I should have a new suspension by the time you get back.

We have a 2003 Toy Corolla 5 speed manual we bought new it now has 140,000 and runs like a top. They use a timing chain, not a belt too. Anyway it gets about 35 highway and 28 city or better. And we beat the **** out of it!!! Two sets of brakes pads, one set of rotors, one clutch, one battery and a few sets of tires, besides the regular oil, filters, and stuff.
