It will make sense when you see it. I just taped the filters to the speaker wires, after soldering the splice.
That is the way I connected the rears on mine also!

Hey guys!

A few quick questions, if y'all don't mind...

I have a 2012 F-250 XLT Crew Cab with the standard AM/FM/Single CD Sync system (no nav), non-premium sound system.

Before I go tearing into the door panels, can someone tell me exactly what size speakers are in the truck as stock.

The reason I ask is because on various sites (crutchfield, bestbuy) they all list different opinions about what fits my truck.

Crutchfield suggests either 5"x7"/6"x8" or 5-1/4" round for the front doors, and 5-1/4" for the rears. Will 5"x7"/6"x8" fit the rears also???

On the other hand, Bestbuy suggests that 6"X9" will fit all the way around, front and rear. Do they???

What's the real story? What should I be looking for.

Thanks in advance!!!

Many thanks.

So, 6"X9" will NOT fit, right?

Yeah, not happening without some sheet metal work. That said, It would be easy sheet to make it work with some power tools.

No 6x9, but 6x8 or 5x8 have the same bolt pattern. All four cab speakers are the same size.

If you have the tweeters in the doors, they are just under an inch, 7/8 I think. I replaced with 1" tweeters and all I had to do was some trimming with my pocket knife. No worries. The mount hardware that was included with my Polk speakers is perfect and everything appears to be factory.

Crutchfield tells me that the Infinity 682.9CF speakers will fit in the front but not the rear - says that the magnet is too large...

Can anybody confirm that they've installed these behind the rear seat in a 2012 F250 Crew?

Mike,

They fit just fine in the 2011. Not sure on the 2012.

I left the tweeters in and everything works/sounds fantastic.

They fit just fine in mine. I didn't have to take the seat out to wrangle the trim panels around, though it would have helped.

I ordered up two pair of Infinity 682.9cf's from Amazon for $136 delivered. I wanted to order from Crutchfield but they were more than twice that price - $160 per pair!

They're scheduled to be delivered tomorrow - hopefully I'll have a good report tomorrow evening.

Thanks again for all the info.

That's a smokin' deal!

I just ordered 2 sets of JL C5-570's. They're supposed to be here tomorrow. I'm also running new speaker wire, which should be interesting since there's no pass-thru in the doors, it's a male/female clip connection... Thanks Ford, another easy task that's no longer easy.
