I know when driving, if I press the button and take o/d off, the rmps jump up. If i press it again, the rpms go back down. I dont know if thats the tc locking up, but it made sense when he explained it.
When you press the OD OFF button the tranny shift to third. Depress the button it goes back to fourth. That why the rpm change. The TC still locks up even with the OD OFF button pressed. TC lock up is in third and fourth gears.
Really??? the TC will not lock when overdrive is disabled?
Ideally it should still lock.....but here I'm out of my league since my E4OD was never run with a stock computer while I had it. Mine locks in whatever gear I allow in the programming but generally I limit that to 3rd and 4th.
I agree that eliminating slip is one of the best things an E4OD can do and it is best to used it.
he just needs to stop listening to that guy at the trans shop and find someone who knows at least the basics of the E40D.
snapon, your being stubborn lol.no offense if this is an old family friend or whatever, but you really should consider a diff trans shop........i hope this guy isn't who rebuilt your E40D? ....edit,no it isn't.you said you got a ford reman.phew.
haha thanks.
now that i got my engine all tuned up and wheels fixed from shacking my guts out,im now working on aero mods.im not stopping until i get a real world true average of 16 MPG while hauling heavy often.....im getting closer, even without a turbo still.im getting close now,to when i was SRW!

Oh ok, I was just saying that from a point of view that the guy told me. He told me that the o/d button lock up the tc.

I can be a hardhead sometimes.
But na, this ain't no family friend or anything. He did rebuild my dads rangers tranny and did one heck of a job so thats why I liked him. I guess he doesn't know much about the E4OD. I'm gonna take it to a different shop or do it myself.
Thats since he signed onto that *other* forum (and dragged me along....)
XLT, I did try replying on your thread a second time over there but it seems there is some sort of activation thats pending on my account so it hasn't appeared yet. Your latest mods look great though.
