John Britten's awesome BOTT race bikes had a similar paint scheme back in the mid Ninety's.
Pictures can't do it justice.

I looked over the Work Performed sheet from the dealership.
The first activity was disconnect the drive shaft and R&R the seal, no other parts.
The next entry reports that they took it out for a drive and it definitely vibrated, then they ran it up while on the lift and it vibrated again. The tech reported that the gear lash was out of tolerance and that the (iirc) the bearings were toasted. The tech pull the axles and replaced the bearings in the carrier, plus the pinion bearing and installed a new crush collar. There is mentioned some pinion shaft repair kit, a sleeve maybe???. The tech also put in two new axle seals.

often a bad bearing will make horrible noises, however i havent hear of one causing a vibration like you describe. i wonder if they over torqued it and the bearings were binding?
