i spent the entire afternoon working on the quad frame. it is just about done, i just need to remove some unused tabs and customize my subframe to make it adjustable.
As for the heavy vibrations the dealership said 'the bearing' is the source of the vibrations.
I presume by that they are referring to the pinion shaft bearing, but my wife doesn't know and I don't care to call them.
My wife said its covered by the extended warranty - it had better be!
My wife asked how the bearing went bad right after they changed the seal?
I said I suspect that the mechanic didn't properly torque (which includes changing out the existing crush washer for a new one) the bolt that clamps the yoke to the pinion shaft and overloaded the bearing.
Is my take on this plausible or should I go back and too
I would love to see the parts charged out to the Expedition for this 'seal job' and see if they at least bill for two crush washers.
The Expedition is still at the dealership since Monday morning, the dealership said that the job has to be done by a specially trained mechanic and not by any oil & lube guy.
My wife raised an eyebrow to that and I said yep the dealership is right about that.
Yet I wonder in hind sight if the dealership in fact had an oil & lube guy R&R that seal last Friday?
andy we were on the road out to LI at 330am, returned home and got everything unloaded and put away by around 10. that left me a nice long "work on stuff" afternoon.
