Security for your f350

Hey Guys,

I have a 2006 F350 powerstroke, and loving it so far, or atleast until the headgasket goes
Wondering what you recommend for security, I have a compustar alarm, but I was thinking of adding a switch to my fuel pump so I can shut it off over night... you guys have any recommendations...
Do they come chipped already like the keys? I just dont want some scumbag to drive away with it and strip down, and leave it in a ditch somewhere.

As well I have one more question, in regards to the egr delete, do you recommend getting the oil cooler with it? I am still trying to understand the concept of it, so I might be misinformed a bit, and debating wethere to do it or not...

Your guys help is always appreciated,

Cheers,

What's security? If you start having typical (expensive) 6.0 issues you'll be leaving it parked with the keys in it!

A fuel pump switch would be extremely easy and cheap to install. You could actually switch any number of different things on these trucks.

haha Mr Sandman, I feel alot better about my purchase now thanks hahaha.

High Binder,... do you think i could route it to one of the auxilary switches that are already on the dash?
thinking that might be a slick way of doing it...

Yeah but that would suck if one of your buddies/kids suddenly decided to flip your switches while you were driving down the road. Plus, it's not very discreet, I think a hidden under the dash or under your seat would be a lot better. A hidden aux switch would also be a heck of a lot easier to install than playing with those switches.

For added piece of mind, I'm in the process of putting SD rear door handles on the front of the truck that don't have the key in them because it is supposedly really easy to "jimmy" the locks on these trucks from under the door handle. It actually looks like someone tried to do this to my truck at some time, but I'm pretty sure it was before I owned the truck.

If you decide to do an egr delete get an oil cooler and out it in while you are in there just to be on the safe side.

Or install a set of gauges and start monitoring your engine oil temp and engine coolant temp and make sure you do not get more than a 15 degree difference while driving with no load. Then when you finally do get 15 degree difference with the oil temp being higher put a new oil cooler in.

They can punch from the edges of the installed rear door handles also (doesn't have to be through the lock). JimmiJammers are better at prevention than the door handle mod, IMO anyway.
