1949 F1 Cab

To all, I am in the process of doing my first resto. I read the thread for newbies and found it very helpful. Now, my project is a 1949 F1 that I found in NM. The cab is so so and is missing all the glass. I found a 52 not sure if its F2 or F3 flatbed. The owner is not sure neither (junkyard). I would like to know if the cab on these trucks are compatable to each other. Thanks

Welcome

And yes; they are

Fenders will need to be matched to the grille, as these are different from 49 to 52

The cabs will physically interchange. The only real differences that matter are the dash and rear window. Everything else is easily adaptable.

tip49 and 52 Merc, thanks for the information. The fenders and grill that I have are in good condition and will be using them. Really excited on starting this project with retirement from the military near by. Will be great way to use some free time. Thanks again.

I find that 51/52 cabs with the rest being 48-50, and vice-versa, is sacriligious. It just doesn't look right. Personally, I wouldn't do it, but it's your truck.

This is what your truck will look like. Personally, I don't like it too much.

IMHO, it is vastly improved without the manure spreader grille.
Only the diehard purists will even notice the difference.
Go for it.

Okay! You're a diehard purist...and a manure spreader lover but we love you anyway!

Welcome to the board!

What part of NM? Its not too uncommon to find decent truck parts out here and/or complete trucks, it might be easier to find a better starting point.

I'm in Rio Rancho, just outside Albuquerque, there's several of us FTE guys in the area

Or you could really mess with them and graft in the 49 dash into the 52 cab. Then the only outward difference would be the wider back glass.
