my uncle (died, years ago, drunk driver hit and run) was an infantryman and black powder guns were his main hobby. he built a lot of 50cal rifles, and had 2 revolvers. one was stolen (colt revolver) when i was about 13. a few years ago, my grandmother had given all of my uncles remaining guns to me. remington 1100 12ga, jc higgins 20ga. bolt action, and a browning .22 rifle (with a lot of sex appeal).
recently, my father decided he had enough of my uncles guns, and didnt want all of them. this revolver wasnt anything special from my uncle, so my dad was going to sell it. he offered it to me first and i gladly took it.
what i do know:
- made in italy
- Navy Arms Company, Ridgefield NJ
-249112
i dont think its a special antique, or anything worth much. i like it though, and i like the idea of black powder so i think it will be fun.
while the 2nd amendment gives me the right to bear arms (well...if you only read the last part of it), it doesnt give me the necessary permits to travel outside of my home with one.
i need to figure out what i need and how to get it for living in NY and carrying in CT as well, because thats probably where i would be shooting it. i would also be travelling through MA...?
liftgate we put on a E-250 last week. dont do many of these on passenger vans.
when i was still at the dealership we had a million sprinter customers that had the tommygate. its a pretty nice compact gate. too bad the sprinter vans were the weak link!

Check with the State Police. It used be that black powder fireams were exempt from licensing and permits. That Navy Arms revolver is most likely either .36 or .45 caliber. The Navy issue was .36 and the Army issue was .45 caliber. Navy Arms made a lot of those replicas at least as far back as the 1960s, they were good shooters but not very accurate by today's standards but, very effective at 10 to 20 yards, if you don't kill whatever you shoot with the ball it will probably die of either fright or the stench of the powder.
