Lots of states. California for one. They can only shoot to kill if they are in immediate danger. Cannot kill a thief. They also do not have stand your ground. Supposed to run like hell crying for a police officer if something happens.
oh well if we are being legal about it, nobody can shoot at an attacker unless cornered...in any state. all that doesnt matter if you are just going to bury them out back

In states with castle doctrine (like NC) intruders can (and will) be shot upon crossing the threshold of the door.

Not true. In Texas, we have the right to shoot and kill anyone that is breaking into our home, car, or business. Reference Joe Horn. He killed two scumbags that broke into his neighbor's house. No charges filed.

Similar here in Colorado. We call it the Make My Day Law.
In North Carolina we don't have to wait till they cross the threshold either, You can put a round through your front door if the threat is imediate. In our County we had a guy come home and find a thief running across his field with some of his belongings and called 911 while he was chasing him in the car on the 911 tape you can hear him pin the guy against a fence and was reving up the car to keep him pinned. The thief died and the guy was found Not Guilty. Juries in our County don't have a major problem letting thieves know if you get caught it's your a$$.
I was called in to work Friday night. I was cleaning up some storm damage and came across this at our back gate. Something told me to wait until daylight before I clear the back gate entrance. This is what I found.
Truck that we used to own.. Bought it for $5000, kept it for less then a year, and then sold it to my grandpa for $5000. Loved that truck.. '95 F150 XLT 4wd auto. Super cab/long bed, 87K miles, and very clean. The only reason my dad sold it was because he needed something he could haul material with, and this was one of those trucks that you don't do that with (not to mention it is a carpeted bed)
