Cool Pic! I was only vaguely aware of the capability of these bad boys before I went to work at Erickson. I'd seen the helicopters with the baskets before but in all reality it seemed like peeing on a fire. But the S64 Air Cranes can not only carry 2700 gallons
of water, but they can fill the tank in 40 seconds through the hose or half that with the rigid sea snorkel. Awesome machines that I am proud to be a part of.
Yes, I've heard it was a pretty good "tanker". Glad you enjoy your job. Hard to find people who love their jobs today. Keep with it. Maybe one day you might can pilot one.
Ehhh, I doubt they're gonna turn over a $30,000,000+ aircraft to a CNC programmer anytime soon. But then again, I year ago I didn't think I'd be working on them, so never say never...
Sandman, what do you all make at your shop? I'm an aerospace programmer. We make a lot of stuff for Boeing, but also cut parts for Goodrich and Sikorsky to name a few. Even made some WOODEN bumpers for a cargo door of a helicopter. It's an awesome job and you get to see all kinds of amazing things for sure.

We own the type certificate for the S64 Aircrane as well as the Pratt & Whitney engines they use, so we can and do make anything our fleet of Aircranes needs as well as customer parts for their S64E and S64F models as well as parts for Bell and Sikorsky HSI and we're also making the tail rotor assembly for the CH-53 helicopters. I love working there and only wish I'd done so sooner. Great people, great company, great product. I wish I could post some pics of some of the stuff we make, but being proprietary information, it would shorten my career at Erickson pretty quickly. Also, I made some seat mounts for Bell a while back and they too were WOOD! Bizarre to even think of using wood in a modern aircraft, but it happens.
