That is 100% correct, you win a Dos Equis or a cookie, your choice! That set is likely from the 1930s or 1940s and sold for under $100.00 new.

Seriously? I have never heard that. Just Googled it and came up dry. Is it possible that there were just problems with those two pans?

Never heard of one exploding/fracturing either. I use mine on an electric stove but only on medium heat. Could be the bad ones are of low quality?

Cookware can "explode" - I've inadvertently done it to a few Pyrex pieces over the years - from thermal shock:

What Are the Dangers of Cookware? | eHow.com

But, I have never heard of nor can I find any information on the cause being any particular heat source, and I'm about ready to call BS on this.

What sort of metallurgy expert are you, Greywolf, why should we believe you and what sources can you provide to back up your claim? What verifiable & credible evidence can you provide that electric cooking appliances are a direct cause of "exploding" cast iron cooking utensils?

ok so for the last, well since I learned how to cook, maybe 35 years I have only cooked with cast iron. and I convert every house I buy to electric stoves. right now my stove is glass top radiant electric, I have had heat coil glass tops and plain old heat coils. my cast iron is taken hunting and camping and used on wood fires, set on a bed of coals, and a propane camp stove. you would think if there was a problem I would have run into it.

I love the Winston NHRA banner in the last picture, to bad they are no longer able to sponsor racing. Reminds me of my late father in law who lived to drag race and of course had a winston hanging from one side of his mouth most of time. About smoking his famous line was always "can't I quit when I get woozy". And no they never killed him, his dragster did.

Got that sometime pre-1990 at what are now called the Mopar Mile High Nationals at the local drag strip.

It's a light for the Gameboy Advance. Back when games didn't have backlit screens

Local gun shop sells these for $3 a piece and 50cal cans for $10.
