Huh?
Did you READ the "passport"?
Duh......
It's a dues book from the Pipefitter's Union in NYC.
It's a cool find, and will probably bring a lot on eBay for you.

There were more BLM rangers out there this year than in the previous two, and the rock crawling sections (that I saw, anyway) had "don't cross" lines and plenty of staff in place to enforce them. I'm sure that race last year where a few of the spectators got killed had a lot to do with that. The course was also shortened...roughly the same mileage as in the past, but it was more or less 2 laps rather than a 120 mile course.
After the last cars had gone through one of the obstacles that I watched (Outer Limits) some dummy in a crew cab Dodge decided he was going to take a little ride down the course. He got about 50 yards and found himself hopelessly high centered on a bunch of rocks. I can't say I didn't grin a little bit as that great White Whale of a truck lay there, beached, bellowing black smoke in a futile effort to get itself back in the water A capable vehicle finally came and dragged it off...oh what a sound it made . Severe suspension damage was evident as he drove off.

Well, it's official.. I'm now under 200 days left on this contract! Almost makes it feel like the back stretch. 16 more days and I'm at 6 calendar months to flip through.
Then it's off to 18 days to play in Ireland and get used to people and freedom.. then home where I have an october "invitation" to federal jury duty. LoL

Sounds like good times Steve. I'm a little irritated at myself for not paying better attention. Got wrapped up in some family stuff and forgot all about it - meant to go this year.
Still - always nice to hear a happy story.
For now I'm making up for it by digging through some of the posted photos. How did the IFS trucks compare to the solid axle rigs?
Helo, congrats on being that much closer to getting home to your truck. Have fun in Ireland. Planning to make a trip out that way in a few years.

I've really got no idea. Given the staggered start, the fact that there are so many vehicles entered in the race and the limited perspective you have from only being able to view from selected spots it's virtually impossible to tell who's in the lead at a given time unless you happen to be near an official who's got their radio turned up. There were a few different classes, and a couple of relatively stock looking Jeep type vehicles, but nothing that could really be called "truck" as we would consider it. Pretty much all purpose-built vehicles. Out of the ones that I saw, there may have been two or three with IFS, but the vast majority had solid axle fronts. With the size tires they have to run I can't imagine the cost in trying to build a TTB that would hold up.
