wife called me at work, the 1/2" pipe that feeds the fridge burst in the kitchen ceiling, shot a hole through the drywall. She was at the sink at the time and scared the daylights out of her. I wish I had a video of that! Apparantly it got cold here in the high desert last night. When I cut the burst section of copper pipe out there were long ice cycles inside. I think I'll add pipe insulation......fun stuff!
Sounds like a mess, Gary. Sorry to hear that. I take it she knew how to turn the water off in a hurry? I wonder what my wife would do if that happened.
Actually got out of doing that, due to my back! We got lucky, just got side-swiped from that huge storm that hammered Chicago.
-2 here. How pleasant......
My son texted me it was -46 with wind chill in Cheyenne and unfortunately his job is all outside no matter what, he has to keep patrolling and checking on his troops.
You've got some darned good insulation if a pipe in your ceiling is able to freeze. Either that or it was mighty cold inside the house
Unfortunately, a bit of both.. We dont use the heater very often we just put on more clothes. Because the pipe was exposed and above the insulation it looks like an after thought, like they forgot to put it "in slab", got the walls up and insulation done then realized there was no feed to the refer. It's insulated now! Let the area dry out for a few days then close up the ceiling, then on to finishing replacing my son's bathrooms tub/shower valve. Joe Plumber.

Wow, hope you feel better soon. Those back problems are rough. Got stuck in Vegas Airport years back, couldnt move and could barely breath without excrusiating pain.
What's your son do in Cheyenne? Hope it pays well to endure that kind of temp.

Thanks. Yeah, we've been together for 34 years now, so she's well trained. And, you can bet the job was done right, she supervised! lol.

No it doesn't pay well but he has to do it whether he like it or not, He is an Airforce cop on a missle base.
The D1 opener in Spokane would be nice since it just happens to be the weekend after Redding (but that's another subject ), but it's just too much traveling and expense for me.
