The alternator went out on my 2005 F250 4X4 6.0 the other day. Had that repaired but now the ABS light is on and the odometer is not working. I disconected the batteries to see if thing would reset but no luck. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?
could be the speed sensor that mounts on the rear end.
Search that problem a bit and I bet you'll see symptoms similar to yours.
Thanks I did see that and did check the conection but figured because of both ABS and odometer are at the same time and started when the batteries went dead because of the bad alternator there may be another problem.
Remove the VSS sensor from the pumpkin and clean it off. It may have gunk and small metal shavings on it. Some are lucky and that solves the problem, some have to replace the sensor. From what you are saying I'd bet that is your problem. Not an expensive fix if you have to buy a VSS sensor. Good luck.
I think the turn singals are working but will check. I had checked the fueses the other day but will check again. Thanks for all the input. I will take the sensor out tomorrow.
I checked the VSS on the rearend and it looked good. It was hard to tell what the resistence was but it had some. I took the truck to the mechanic that repaired the heads. He ran a diagnostic test and the sensor was coming up bad. but after he cleared out all the codes everything went back to normal. Happer than a pig in slop!!!!!! Thanks
