Speedometer,odometer not working/ABS light on

Hi,
1999 250 PS with intermittent speedometer and odometer and ABS light on. After reading posts here I will go to Ford tomorrow and buy speed control sensor. I am curious...I had replaced bad rear caliper about 400 miles ago. Then my batteries went bad and had the batteries out of my truck for 2 days. Replaced them and drove abot 50 mile and now this problem. Started truck and ABS light was on and no speedometer or odometer. drove about 7 miles and speedometer and odometer started working and then ABS light went out. Drove truck rest of day shutting off and starting many times with no problem. Next day same problem again. Am getting two error codes P0500 and P0603. Could these problems all be related?

pull and clean the VSS sensor on the rear end...napa has new ones called ABS sensor for 10 - 15 bucks

The P0603 is due to the the batteries being disconnected. The P0500 is due to the VSS circuit. Have you cleared the codes?
