My heat works. I can not change the the settings on my vents it only blows out of the defrost. I need to know for sure what the problem is before i spend money on the wrong part. Thanks in advance
Firemaster hit it right on. When you start the truck, if theres a leak, you should hear that little compressor turning on and running on the passenger side near the air reservoir. Another place to look is behind your glove box, theres a bunch of vaccum hoses back there that plug into a do dad thingy that diverts air to the selected area components, blend door, exct.
Can you guys elaberate on the ESOF. I just checked the vacuume lines on the hubs, plugged them like you said and still nothing but defrost. I checked all the hoses behind the glove box everything is on and tight and i checked all the lines on PaysonPSD link under the hood, nothing seems to be wrong, anything else?
First, make sure you vacuum pump is running. if you are staying on defrost and if you have a bad line, you pump will be running. ESOF, electronic shift on the fly, it's the solenoid beside the vacuum pump. If the pump is running, unplug the line running to the solenoid and plug it. if the pump stops, there's your problem.
If it's running more than about 15 seconds or so, the yes you have a leak. Start at the vacuum and unplug lines, one at a time and seal opening and see which one causes it to stop. Might be close by and might still be under the dash. As mentioned, it could be the reservoir as well. Start by plugging all the lines at the pump and if it continues to run, bad pump...
