Dennis. First thank you so much for the help. You don't know how much it means to me. Ok I just figured out none of the backlights that you mentioned are working. But the map and dome lights are. I pulled that fuse and the map lights went out. And I looked behind the radio and I saw nothing squished or anything unusual? You said it might be a transistor on the BCM or something? That sounds expensive! Even the backlight for the switch to the overhead is not working. I have the mic already, it was that I had to splice in on the passenger side and run it in the radio for some reason? That was the only splicing required. Also no DTC. Thanks again!
Also to add, the backlights for the side power winddows are working as well. What am I going to do now? I dont think that all the splices in behind the radio would break apart all at once? Like I said, I checked that behind the radio and saw nothing. I would take it to the dealer, but I feel as if this was my own fault and don't want Ford to pay for my stupidness. So let me know about that separate thing on the BCM
ALSO (haha) I cant understand how this mic is not working. I have done everything to the T and it still will not function. Im going to post a link to the guys install on the diesel stop to show you the only piece of instruction I recieved.
If all those backlights are out then its not the splices. I will take a look at that post over at the Diesel Stop and in the meantime I am leaning towards a BCM configuration issue but I will need some more info from you in a bit. I will get some questions together and then post back here.
Ok, put in my OEM nav last night. It was easier than I thought. Everything works great on it except the mic, which my local car stero shop is going to fix. But on my way to work this morning I noticed that my backlight on the cruise control and the backlights for the headlights and panel dimmer were not working? Is there a fuse location for these? I thought I did a great job till that little problem. I read the owners manual but to no help. Let me know if you have any suggestions for me. Thanks
How much did the unit set you back if you don't mind me asking and did you order it through Ford?

ok thanks so much. How could this of happened? I replaced the steering wheel audio controlls when I did the nav swap. BUt I dont see how that would affect it? What a bummer! I should of just been happy with what I had, but nope. My wife tells me I'm never satisfied, guess shes right. (I am satisfied with her though )

Paid $2500 or so for the whole thing. That incldues the harness and all that jazz. partsguyed.com is where I purchased it from. He is super easy to deal with. Other than my problem, it was a pretty easy install. The mic not working is kind of a bummer though. I know it cant be in my wiring because I have checked it 634 times. Dang.
Okay, first I need to know if your truck is a SYNC or NO SYNC truck.
Next, can you confirm the headunit was programmed with your VIN number when you ordered it? You can confirm this by taking a look at the system info in the menu.

It has Sync, and when I look at the vin number, it just has a blank spot?
Okay, I need you to do a couple of things and then report back:
1) With the truck off, turn your parking lamps on.
2) Enter the engineering test mode by holding down the "down" button on the left sterring control switch and then turning your ignition switch to on. Once you are in test mode you can turn over the ignition to start the truck and stop any current drain on the battery.
3) In test mode (not sure if you have the full information screen but assuming you do) scroll to the continuous DTC screen and note any codes that show up. If there are codes please record and report back. If no codes, continue scrolling to the screen that has dimmer settings.
4) Once on the dimmer settings screen first record the setting numbers. Then try adjusting the settings up and down from the dimmer switch and let me know if they change at all.
This is like watching a great soap opera! Will Lexus survive the BCM? Can Denis find a cure? Stay tuned!
Seriously, this is why I love this site. You guys have no problem rolling up your selves to help. Denis -- great stuff man!
No kidding right? I mean, who takes time out of their day to help a guy he does not even know? If everybody had his attitude, there would be no problems in this world.
Okay that's good - just FYI the first DTC 13700 is related to the trailer brake controller. The second DTC 46282 is related to compass calibration on your old non-navigation system.

More in a bit...
Great! I was hoping that those codes were the answer to my problems. Let me know something else to do! haha. I have had a non productive day at work thats for sure.
Also I am sorting throught the mic connection. Something is not quite right with the connection instructions - I suspect they may be specific to non nav systems.
