Hi, I have a 1984 Ford F150, 351 Windsor, dual gas tanks, and factory air conditioning I am having no end of trouble with the heater blower fan. Is it possible to rewire the blower motor to a simple off/on toggle type switch? I really need to get the defrosters to work.
Thank you,
You could prolly do that using a 30A (or so) relay, you would have only ON or OFF.
What are the problems you've been having? What troubleshooting have you done and
what have you found?
It's fairly common for AC-equipped trucks to have problems with the temperature blend door
breaking off the hinge and the vacuum motor end up merely pushing a rod up and down
instead of swinging a door open & closed.
Or, some guys disconnect the vacuum reservoir(s) thinking they're making things "better"
and "cleaning up the engine compartment" by removing things *****-nilly without really
knowing what they're doing....
You don't see too much out here about the blower motor itself, though; whatchya got?
If you have power in the dash and no power getting to the blower fan it's more than likely the blower resistor is bad or it has come loose from it's plug.
In each subforum (you're in the 80-86 forum now) if you go to the index page for whichever one you need, there in the upper left corner, just above the threads list you will see a button for "New Thread"
Click there and try to convey in the thread title what it is you need.
You can't hardley read this diagram, but if you look close, you will see on high speed the blower gets power directly from the dash speed switch, and doesn't go through the resistor at all.
