i was wondering why some f350s have roof lights, and some don't??? my 94 crewcab doesn't have em, and i'm thinking about putting some on it because lets face it, they look awesome! lol has anyone ever done this? how tough a job do you think it would be?
As far as I know it was just a factory option, you could get it with or without...
A lot of members here have put them on. Pretty simple, LMC Truck sells a kit for about $40 with all the lights, and all of the trucks have a power wire for them behind the passenger kick panel, so just snake the wire down there and splice into it. Just make sure you seal the lights really well where they meet the cab.
and measure very carefully, 3 times...you only get one chance to drill the holes in the right place! i am usually pretty shy about doing stuff with the truck for the first time, but i did this project solo, so that tells u it's a piece of cake clear silicone to seal
I don't know if you like the look of them, or want the additional cost, but you could always go with a sunvisor with the built in cab lights. Adds a really sharp look to the truck as well as giving you the clearance lights look.
It was on it when I bought it in 2000. Had one screw come loose once and thought something was beating on the roof on the highway. Tightened it down and good to go. I like the looks of it.
I added some to my 95 when I had it. I used different spacing than stock. One on each end and grouped 3 in the middle. I used a Super duty to measure from. I also used Superduty cab lights. They looked much cleaner than the stock OBS light. Some time I will be replacing my current lights on the 97 with Dodge Smoked LED clearance lights. They are the only ones so far known to be able to cover the holes of the stock lights or I would use SD lights on my 97
That's the look I'm talkin' about, Darin. Looks smooth and give the profile a 'tougher' look, IMO. And Tim, if I didn't have the factory lights, I would have done the same as you did, I prefer the spacing pattern that you did, vs. the evenly spaced look.
