Much to my chagrin, I found out when I called my pumper to order the mud that Paramount Ready Mix, the concrete company I've been using for almost 20 years, closed their doors right before Christmas. Bought out by Robertson's, who had purchased Paramount's other plant, as well as numerous other small companies over the last decade or so. Bummer. Had a decent relationship with that company, always had great service whether the job was large or small, and their salesman Ron would usually stop by the job on the day we poured and bring a few soda's and a couple of doughnuts for everybody. I guess I'll just have to get used to a faceless entity now. Seems so many things are going that way...
It was called account retention. A thing of the past, sadly. Chinese donuts anyone?
I know most of you guys are south of LA - but please keep me posted if anyone hears of shops hiring towards the N end of LA county. :-) I'm normally too stubborn to ask for any kind of help (it's not in my nature)... but I figure it couldn't hurt at this point.
