January 2011 - General Chat Thread!
I just hit you all AGAIN with some January love...
I got Chris, Dave, Wag, Phil and Steve...I ran out when trying to hit Scott...
You guys gots to spread it around...give some...get some reps...be friendly folks from Indiana!
Joe.
............actually I just ran out....but then when I got it back yesterday, those rep God's said I still had to spread it around before getting back to you.
I keep forgetting to tell you...
You posted that link to the Hornady LeverRevolution 225gr .44mag ammo for like $15.85 per box or something plus about $10 shipping...and with the shipping you can order as many boxes as you want I think...
My local gun shop (a guy at work works there) carry's these for $16.80 per box...which isn't too bad considering what I've seen these for out there...
Just an FYI...
Still waiting on the Ruger 10/22 to come in so I can pick up both guns...although if it doesn't come in before I get home on Thursday...I'm going to take the Marlin home regardless...
Zoe (my 11 year old) told me how excited she is to get her gun and go deer hunting and spend time with dad in the blind...I'm thinking about trying to find her a monogramed leather sling...any ideas of where I may be able to find those?
Joe.
I bought my Hornadys for $14 something. They had gone up a bit right before I gave you that link.
Looks like if you bought around 6 boxes or so online, it would be a tad better online maybe, but always nice to support a local if you have one.Taxes/shipping, whataya do, ya know? Kinda comes out in the wash.
Hearing about Zoe is what keeps me going brother. I sure wish our 11 year old girls could hunt to gether. I want to find a good girl close, to hunt with my daughter. A good support network would maybe help them stick with it.
well, the new to me SD I picked up in the fall started shifting funny yesterday. It has sat for about a month since it is only my work/play truck.
Might hit you fellas up for some ideas after I get through a few checks and changes I want to do.
... JK...THANKS...I am going to show the girls this picture!!!
Like I said...I've already got a lunch break planned after we leave Glacier and before we arrive in Spokane...a PERFECT reason to stop!...are you near there at all?...can I buy you lunch when we're passing thru?...I'd love to meet you if that works out...let me know...I will be packing as I always am...but this is purely innocent! ... really...

Joe.
You wouldn't be the first heavily armed father I have had to run away from.

I am about six hours away from Post Falls, however I visit Idaho around three times a year during the summer so it is a definite possibility depending upon my schedule. I would love to meet you and your family so we will see if we can work something out. Until then I will practice my long distance running, lol.
Thanks Joe. But I tried, I really tried. I don't venture out of Indiana much, but I worked up the courage and went out to spread the love........and then, I started getting the cold sweats and blacking out and had to come back.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts

be safe!
I'm up, been to the gym, talked to the wife and am going to hit the shower and get some breakfast as I have a teleconference with France in a couple of hours...tick tock...
Corey...keep practicing that long distance running...you never know when you may run into a dad that is serious...especially out in Big Sky Country...I hear there's lots of places to "disappear" out there...and you have to remember I grew up in Jersey where people "disappeared" all the time...but of course we have the ocean and cement shoes out east!

Looks like my girls school is canceled for today...they are going to have a big
apparently...ahh the things that excite kids...I remember when life was so simple! Wag I'll let you know if I find a place that monograms rifle slings...I'm sure they are out there...I'd like a leather sling for her to go with the western theme of the Marlin...what do you think?...hopefully I find what I'm looking for and I can give it to her for her birthday in June?...the sling that is...
Hope you guys have a GREAT hump day...
Oh and Corey...I told my wife about the cheese blocks...she said Zoe (our youngest) will be THRILLED...I haven't sent them your picture of the sticks yet but I will when I log into my work email later...
Joe.
Then one of the after effects of all of my injuries from the accident and the subsequent 17 surgeries...when we were out on our trip to the Grand Canyon...we had just arrived in Moab Utah...well I ended up with a bleeding ulcer...puking blood...I mean buckets of blood in the middle of NO WHERE is a tad scary for all involved...so here we are in the camper and I'm covered...scared everyone to death as you can imagine...so they take me to a 12 bed...YES a 12 bed hospital in Moab...now if you don't know about Moab...it is the rock crawler capital of the world, has more category 5 and 6 rapids than anywhere, more serious mountain biking trails (slick rock I think it is called) and ATV and dirt biking than about anywhere and they have a 12 bed hospital?...
But I digress...so I spend 3 days in the hospital getting my blood levels up...remember we're 1500 miles from home pulling a camper and I am the only one that pulls the camper!...anyway it all works out thru God's help and we get home...when I see my doctor back home he now does yearly endoscopies (spelling?) to check for ulcers...the ulcer was right where they reconnected my stomach and small intestines...right where my doc in Denver told me I would likely have one some day...
So...what does this have to do with coffee I bet you are asking yourself...well there IS a tie in...just wait for it...
So my doctor back home tells me how acidic coffee is and gives me a choice...coffee or beer...I bet you can guess what I choose!

In fact I gave up most all caffeine also...I'll drink an occasional cup of decaf but that's it...but I do drink a few brewskies...

See I told you it was about coffee!

Have a good one...going to get some grub...but no coffee!

I have some issues with bloodflow to my hands and drinking caffeine aggravates the situation so I know when I over do it.
When I ventured over to Corey's chapter in Montana I got to asking around over there about the leather monogrammed sling...Don the Oregon chapter leader turned me onto a guy out there so I gave him a call and I actually ordered a sling.
He is going to customize it and imprint Zoe's name and add a nice pressed border along with some whitetails on it. It will be padded and have brass hardware...sounds real nice...he is old school so he doesn't have a website but Don has seen his work and said it is absolutely beautiful...
It will be a couple of tones of brown with the oiling he does to highlight the tooling he does...so we'll see.
Shipped to my house it came to $53...not too bad I thought for a customized sling for Zoe...
I told the guy that he as some artistic freedom to make her a beautiful sling...so we'll see...
I have to mail him a check...old school...remember...!
When I get it I will take some photos and post them up...he said about 3 weeks.
He can do whatever you want it sounds like...I don't want anything kiddish...but something that tells her the gun is HERS because it IS!!!
So...we'll see what turns up at my house...stay tuned!
If you like what you see...I'll send you his number...
Joe.

Question of the day...what the heck are reps? Sorry if I'm missing something basic but that's a new one on me. None of the other forums I'm on have ever mentioned them.
Clue a newb in...
