Well...last night was an interesting night at our house...
The drink of choice that I was making were "Prickly Pear Martini's"...apparently they were good...we had two of the wives get BLASTED on them...one occupied our main bathroom evacuating her guts and the other passed out on our couch...NEITHER made it to midnight! Both were escorted home by their hubbies and children!... We haven't had that kind of result since our college days! haha We had a great time (not as great as those ladies though)...good time with good people...we ended up playing a few board games...Trival Pursuit 80's edition guys against girls...GUYS ROCK BTW... Then a game called Apples to Apples...which if you have never played...is pretty fun...it is an individual player game but you can play with many people (we had 12 playing)... Hope everyone had a blast last night!...we're tired for sure though... We've got a wedding today at 3pm and a reception at 6... Still chewing on that 44 mag decision Wag...I'm leaning towards the Marlin but only because I'm more of a nostalgic kind of guy... Hope everyone was safe last night! Joe. |

That Marlin would be a fine choice for sure...............but did you say this was for you or your daughter?:-X05 |

Joe. |

Joe. I looked at that gun in the stainless and that was pretty sweet too! |
I think I am settled on the Marlin...now I just have to find the cash after Christmas!...thankfully time is on my side!
What loads/bullets are you putting thru the Ruger?...225 gr? 245 gr? I have always used the Hornady 245gr JHP bullets in my .50 cal muzzleloader and that bullet does an exceptional job on deer...curious as to what loads you like in the Ruger... Joe. |
I shot what I could find at Wal Mart at first. The patterns weren't all that good, so I researched online what most were shooting through this gun. This is what I found.
They hold a terific pattern out to 100 yards. I found a few in the dirt and the expansion was excellent and perfect. The two deer we harvested this year expired very quickly and the penetration was fantastic. I'm very happy so far and hope to do some shooting out to 150 yards this year. |
You have confirmed yet another thing for me...I was looking at those Hornady LeverRevolutions in 225gr...!!!

FYI.....Cheaper Than Dirt had the best price I could find in October. They have went down about a dollar a box since I bought ours in October. May be other better deals out there now.

Wag,
awesome...THANKS for the link!!! Have you tried any hand loads in the gun yet?...I've got quite a few buddies that reload 44mag rounds... |
