Hey guys, i have a 83 F-250 single cab. I bought it a few years back and the guy who owned it before me did a TON of work. He took the cab and bed off and sand blasted the frame and replaced everything. however he installed the old cab and bed and they're pretty ruff. I am looking at putting a new cab on it along with a Flat bed we own. Since ive been looking i found a 89 cab. complete rust free. Will it fit? Or will i have to modifiy a bunch of stuff?
All cabs 1980-1996 are the same, but the 1992+ ones have different electrical cab connectors and different dash bolt locations and different pedal assembly.

Sweet! i thought i herd someone tell me you had to mod the cab to make everything fit. Before i ever ask questions ill come here first lol. thanks guys!
B piller seatbelts? What is that? That something in the 92+ cabs?
OK. REAL quick.
"A" pillar = windshield post
"B" pillar = is the pillar that the door latches to.
"C" pillar = the next post back
"D" pillar = next post pack on so on and so on
On the 80-86 cabs the seatbelt retractor mechanism is mounted in the upper corner of the "B" pillar(by your head)
On the 87-97 cab the seat belt mechanism is mounted on the floor of the "B" pillar, with only a pivot point up by your head
If your going to use the 83 dash assy in the 89 cab, you going to have to remake the dash mounts along the firewall AND replace the steering columm support bracket(spot welded in place) to use the 83 steering brackets. I know as I am doing this right now with my 84 F250 with a 90 cab. Only after getting the 84 dash mounted, I found on about the seat belt mech locations....... Oh well it will look 84 to most smucks out there! And no more wet knees when it rains.
I just got done installing the 84 wiper motor and had to make the hole bigger and drill out new holes for the mounting screws in the cowel. I like the 84 wiper motor over the new ones(magnets fall apart in them) and it was a new motor to boot why waste $$ again on another wiper motor. Will be using the firewall bulkhead electrical connector and rewire the 84 dash into it. I am going to use a Offy DP and dura sparkII, so I will have to cover the ECU hole in the left kick pannel. I have not verified if the vents will fit in the kick pannel area yet... too cold for me now to try.
