My truck has developed a wobble in the steering wheel. I don't mean when you are driving down the road, but the steering wheel wobbles around. It wobbles in any position that the Till shaft is set to.

Please advise on how to repair.

Wobbles around like it's loose? Or appears out of round when turning it?

 

I think he is saying there is a lot of slop in his tilt mechanism causing it to shift around.

 

There is a lot of slop in the steering shaft from the tilt to the steering wheel. The tilt still seems very tight.

When I grab the steering wheel, it will move side to side about 1/2" to 3/4".

 

Do you mean the whole wheel moves side-to-side, or that it rotates 1/2" to 3/4"?

My truck started making cracking noises this morning and now the steering is loose a few inches away from the wheel itself. I started removing stuff, the airbag and lower shroud behind the wheel is off.i have no idea how to remove the upper shroud with the ignition going through it or what I need to replace on my steering. I've been researching road problem for a few hours now and have had no luck. I know I need a big torx bit for the wheel to ber removed but after that I'm lost.

 

Did you ever get an answer on this question?
(I'm having the same issue....some play in the steering wheel, making it a bit unnerving when driving on the highways. )
