Yes it does play movies, until you pull it out of park. Thats where the Lock Pick comes in.

Oh really!! I thought it was only if it sensed speed because my next question was to just find the speed trigger wire and pull it out of the connector.

Definitely shuts it off when the gear lever is moved to drive. This one is on my X-Mas list. Not that I watch DVDs while driving, put being able to have the passenger (i.e. the wife) put a new address in the Nav is a nice feature. I also like the ability to add a second camera and view it while driving if I need to.

Now knowing this info..I'll probably be getting one myself. Watching Dvds on the run and entering in addresses on the run will be quite helpful for our long trips and trying to find stuff in the city.

Very Very nice!! The Lockpick devices did NOT do this before. I had several discussions with the Lockpick folks because I wanted to add a camera and keep my factory camera. They were very firm (borderline rude) that it was simply not possible with their product. THey said that I could have 2 aftermarket cameras or the one factory backup but not factory + an add on. I decided to wait and hope...looks like I get my Christmas wish afterall.

I will give them a call today to find out where they stand with the factory installed camera. I agree with Porthole that the information on their website is confusing. It sounds like the new upgrade to run a factory camera and second aftermarket camera is available and ready to be purchased. But some are being told it will be available in a "couple of weeks".

Won't be the first time the right hand doesn't talk to the left...

I think the report was that people should "check back in the next couple weeks", hinting that something *might* be available... but they have no release date yet. That said, if someone already *has* a lockpick with the factory+aftermarket camera option... then I want one, too

They were kinda rude to me when I asked, too. I have the factory tailgate camera, but I'd like to add one or possibly two cameras and keep the tailgate one. I'm thinking one behind the fiver and one on the cargo light to help when hitching up. I at least want the one behind the fiver... and being able to use it as a "rear view mirror" while towing would be awesome. IMO, Ford should look into this for a production feature. Those of us that tow long trailers would love the visibility

That is exactly what I am thinking. How nice will it be when you can actually see behind your trailer as you are backing up! I will let you know what they say after I have my rude phone call with them.

Downloaded the owners manual for the new truck and started reading it tonight. The tailgate camera has a connector under the truck in the rear. Obviously I don't have it yet but I was wondering if it was a standard video connector. If it was possible that would be a great place to hook up a rear trailer cam.

I doubt that it is a standard connector, as the RCA connector is not waterproof, and you would want that specially near the back of the truck.

the connector is there so you can remove the tailgate (which has the camera in it)

course if you could connect the trailer cam here, you would still only need support for one camera. (at a time)

Santa finally got around to calling them... The Scrooges on the other end stated very clearly that the current orderable Lockpick does not support a second camera when the truck comes equipped with a factory camera. They eluded to an interest in developing this feature but had no plans at the moment to build it. Having been in sales a number of years, my translation is that they are working on the option to do this but do not want to hurt their pre-Christmas sales and are keeping mum on it. Sort of what goes on with Apple products. Want an iPad but heard the next gen will have a video camera on it. So guess who took it off his Christmas list?

Bummer. At least they "eluded to an interest in developing this feature", which is more than I got from them when I called. Not sure they realize how many folks think the product already does this and/or really want this feature.
