A little point that may be of interest to you Marv...the general notes on the plan call for a geotech report for the soil. It's not being built on fill, it's nice, sandy loam...not the least bit expansive...I couldn't understand why it was thought to be necessary.
Turns out it's just boilerplate that the architect puts on any set of plans he releases...but...we had to get it removed from the plan nonetheless or Mr Inspector was going to require it.
The over-engineering on this thing is insane. Single story, but it requires a 12" x 24" footing/w 4 #4 horizontal rebar, an 8" stem wall/w 2 #4 horizontal and 1 #4 vertical from the bottom to the top 24# o/c throughout.
Some of the shear walls have 5/8 anchor bolts on 8" centers.

Is it straddling the Newport-Inglewood, perchance?
The vertical steel will serve to hold it all in position for you, though.
Sheesh!
However, I am kinda' surprised there was no over-ex'ing and re-compacting required. Some places require five feet of it, even for single-story residential.
Idk if I should be happy or not but I get to work on fords again tomorrow. Replacing plugs, wires and the coil on an Explorer with a 4.0 v6 and swapping headers and gaskets on a 90s 5.0 mustang.
I'm not worried about the 4.0, just pull the splash shield in the fender but the mustang is going to be a pain. I hope he doesn't want header wrap. I hate that stuff.
thats what i was talking about the mustang. theres one thing i hate is exhaust.
whats he going to do with the rest of the run take it to a muffler shop?
