The 550 is an entry level sled, I wouldn't class it as cheaply made. Its on an older chassis style, with entry level suspension components and such. Coming from a sledhead, yes, he'd consider it to be cheaply made. Its a far cry from something like I just bought, which is meant to take a pounding and come back for more. What they are intended for are hours of low maintenance family fun. Dad taking the kids for a saturday trail ride...Grandpa out checking his snares every morning. Not a hardcore mountain sled for beating off trees, dropping off clifts and such. They're a great sled when used as they're intended. Would I buy one? In a heartbeat once my kids are of age to enjoy a day on the trail.

I didn't go out at all today. Cold would have been a factor until I have the proper headgear, but our day was already full with other plans...

I went out today and it was not too bad by the afternoon. We stopped at the warm up shelters for awhile though. The wind sure blasted the trails, we need some more snow now.

It's on it's way! Just looked at the radar at 11:15 and a big yellow and green band of snow is heading Yorkton and hopefully Dauphin's way. The wind had picked up something fierce here.

Gonna go for a good ride tommorrow AFTER the snow.

We did get some snow last night. Haven't been outside yet, but looks to be 3-4 inches. Its a nice little start on the already awesome base we had. What do you ride Smiggs?

Phazer, sweet! Looking at brand new or one of those old school ones??

We got a bit of snow here as well, although not a ton.

Still enough to get out there at least!

It'll be a newer one, but not brand new. Probably a 07-09 model year, the new style 4-stroke 80hp. Hopefully find a MTX, with the 144/2" track.

Why the Phazer? Experiment, and my wifes choice. I've heard good things about them, they're hard to find used. The dealer that I deal with (where I bought all my other toys except my sled) will possibly take my bandit on trade, so no money really has to be spent... My RMK was researched and bought on what I thought would serve me best. To be honest, I really don't have a brand bias when it comes to sleds, unless Suzuki started making sleds. If they did, I'd be the first one in line to get one. My quads, streetbikes are all suzuki and very sturdy well-built machines.

I dont really have a brand bias when it comes to most things either. I have my preferences but in the end I buy whatever is a good deal, for a good product.

Arctic Cat used to have suzuki engines in their sleds, if I remember right.

And as for what the wife wants, a happy wife means a happy life, I hear that loud and clear!!

Cats did have suzuki engines, a lot of their models still do, but they're switching to either another manufacturer, or making their own next year I heard. Hopefully they can make engines better than they did clutches and chassis/suspensions...

Ah I get it, sorta like a cummins in a dodge eh, great engine, but at the end of the day, your still driving a dodge haha.

Did you go out tonight at all? I took Sandi's sled out for a good ride. It seems a little hard on fuel (although I wasnt easy on the throttle at all!) and I burned 1/4 of a tank in about an hour and a half, but man I enjoyed burning around!

I didn't get out yesterday at all. Was working on my house for longer than I'd expected. 1/4 of a tank in 1 1/2 hours isn't bad in a mid sized sled. In mine, I'll go through similar if I'm drift ripping and playing around. It'll be better on trails when its just clean going, but when you start playing, you start paying. I remember many a 200$ day back home playing in the back country!!

200 dollar days? wow! All ive really owned was smaller fan cooled sleds before, and they were really alot different on fuel! Not near as fast, but just as fun!

Id be curious in hearing how yours does on fuel as well, yours is a 2 stroke right?
