All black shift? Heading east in the ditch of #10 highway or riding with a yamaha a little further north? I don't entirely recall seeing a shift, but there was quite a few sleds out on sunday. We're getting some snow this evening... hopefully it holds out a while...
I remember seeing a polaris touring, now that you mention it. I was by myself, looking like a misfit, work coat, red motocross helmet... were you coming into a ditch when you met me? just south of the bridge? just curious...
Yeah we could use a good dump of the white stuff. How do you like your assault so far Sherm?
So far I really like it...but I've only got 140kms on it... I don't think there's anything I won't like about it, but I am excited to get out in some real snow and try the performance of it against some other late model competitors. I have some friends with yellow sleds that seem to think I made the wrong choice... I'd like to measure up. I can't see the yamaha 4-strokes being too much of a threat. An aquaintenance just bought the 130hp yamaha model, (not sure of the name?) and it has almost a 200lb more weight difference than my sled, and +/-25 hp less. On the trail it may do well, but in snow where they're meant to be, I think it'll suffer...a
We still dont have enough snow to ride here, although sleds are going....
I really dont want any until the holidays, have malt barley to haul from grain bags this week then some wheat piles to clean up --- then dump!!!
We've got a couple more inches here in the past few days. Its supposed to start snowing tonight I think and keep snowing for quite some time...
Helmets... Whats a good one without breaking your wallet? I bought a HJC CSR-1, got a 'deal' @ 140.00, but its a piece of crap. At any speed over 20km/h there's wind getting in from above the visor so bad that my eyes water and freeze shut...forehead starts to get an aching. Its got a heated visor that seems to work, but I can't put up with that wind entry. I'll be looking for something else...
My woman got a SMOKIN' deal on a used 583 Ski-Doo today. It was super cheap (thank you kijiji) and its in really good shape.
She bought a z1r eclipse helmet today (they were on sale for 89 bucks) and I think its awesome. If they would have had my size on sale i would have bought one as well.
I have an HJC cl-15 bike helmet that I use and it works OK. Since I have glasses I really need to get a breath deflector. (I bought this helmet in an end of the season sale last year for a hell of a deal as well). I dont have a problem with wind getting in though. I also dont snowmobile THAT much, so i cant justify a really good helmet.
