Nice job. I think i have it down pat with the wiring, but my question was, will a 1979 302 with DS-II distributor be compactible with the 300 ????

No. They are different. You want distributor part #30-2669 (Cardone Reman). I bought mine at Auto Zone for $45 (no core).

I am TOTALLY convenced that i did my DS-II swap correctly. But i seem to not be getting spark? I have flooded the engine plenty times and SOAKED the plugs... does flooding destroy plugs??

Flooding is a carb issue. Did you replace/rebuild your carb...it may need a rebuild or float adjustment. Flooding will foul your plugs and you should take them out and clean them.

Spark: check your ignition box and coil to make sure they are working and go from there.

Check that you have about 12 volts on the positive side of the coil when cranking. And that the Tach connection on the coil is pulsing when cranking.

Perfect components will not work without power. You need to determine if there is power to the coil and to the ignition box. The easy way to do so is as I explained above. Obviously there is a problem or the engine would be running. So start the diagnostics to determine what it is.

I get 9.6V to the coils positive post when key is in ON position and around 12V when cranking. Could you visit my profile and view my thread "Did i wire this right?" I have uploaded a video of what i done and show all the components. Thanks

I went back to the the thread in 80-86 and watched the video as well as read the posts. Given that you have ArdWrknTrk and JimsRebel helping, who are two of the best, I'm going to withdraw from the fray as more cooks tend to muddle things rather than help. So stick with them and they will get you through this.

My guess, its an issue w/the wiring harness itself. However, is the distributor used or a reman (pick-up coil in distributor may be bad)?

Thanks gary, And sean, Im begining to think that too... im thinking the harness or dist. is bad. The harness is out of a 1979 with a 302, and the dist. is out of a 1973 with the 300. but wait.... now thinking about it.... didnt ford come out with DS-II in 1976??? will a DS-I dizzy be compatible with DS-II module/coil???

My advise, would be to get a reman distributor. I posted the part # for the one you need earlier ($45 + cap/rotor and spacer) at Auto Zone (for 1980 F150). Also, unwrap the ignition harness and check for issues (cuts in wires, etc) and then re-wrap it...reg. Black electrical tape works good...spiral wrap it.

I used the reman distributor w/30-year old OEM ignition module, coil, harness...and literally plugged everything in and it ran great. There really isn't a whole lot of room for error or issues.

SUCCESS! I got it started, i tinkered with the dist. and it was WAAAAY out of time. Now i have a new problem... the gas in the carb bowl seems to be over filling and gas is pouring out the nipple next to the fuel inlet on the carb... why is my fuel bowl getting over full? i am also running 3/8 rubber line, could it be feeding to much gas to the bowl? should i convert back to the stock metal line

Good Deal!! So, you must have been getting spark...but your timing was way!?

You'll have to adjust your float...I had that same problem on a new carb I bought...minor float adjustment and no further issue w/it. I would use the stock size fuel line (rubber is ok).
