Yes, it seems easy, until you throw California Emissions in there and extra wires...that no one seems to have seen before LOL...I do have the three plugs on my engine wiring harness, as seen in an earlier pic (this thread). I'll just figure...if it plugs in (keep)...if it doesn't plug in (don't need)/smiling (hopefully that logic works)

I know on an 82 I had the DS-III and EEC stuff was completely separate from the basic wiring. Dunno if that's true for the CA stuff. But in my case I was able to remove the stuff I didn't need w/o cutting or splicing any wires I was keeping.

I have yet to match wire to wire (it will have to wait until the weekend). I'm hoping and it looks like the 5-wire harness (82 I6), I can just eliminate the extra 2-plugs and wires (they're separate). The 3-wire harness should match right up...but its pretty short.

The 5-plug picture, is posted above. I don't have a pic of the module...I can find one on Google, etc if you need it.

I doubt I can ID the module if I don't know what it looks like. I don't mean to be sarcastic, but I don't recognize the description. Maybe if I see it?

Ahhh! Now I understand. Sorry, just didn't understand what you meant. You only want a blue grommeted module. There are a number of sites out there that explain what the various grommet colors represent, but that's a moot point - you want blue.

Right, but can I use the harness from the yellow module (5-Plug harness above)?

If you can get it down to the standard 3 plugs then yes.

Wikipedia says the yellow grommeted module was used from 79 to 81. If that's true then I think you can extract the other plugs and wires. I say that because up through '82 the ones I've worked on have had the computer or emissions stuff separate. You may have to cut some of the emissions wires to get them out of the harness, but I think the two plugs will be separate.

The 5-Plug harness w/yellow module, came off of an 82' Bronco I6. It looks like I can just eliminate the two extra plugs. Does anyone have a DS II wiring diagram, that shows wire colors/how many wires, etc??
