Saving the best news for last?

Shortly after the recent press event held at Dearborn for Ford, we speculated that a hybrid F-150 was probably in the works. With the company investing $4.5 billion in electrified vehicles, and with Fields stating that 13 new electrified vehicles were coming, it’d only make sense that one of them would be a hybrid. As it turns out, we were right.

This might seem like a no-brainer, but the move to aluminum for the F-150 (and soon Super Duty line) was the right one. It was an expensive move, but Ford did it in such a smart way that the cost of the final product didn’t vary much from the steel counterpart.

The only thing more American than fireworks on Independence Day is armchair quarterbacking. Running one of the largest automakers in the world is no easy task for anyone, but there’s always something we think we’d do differently if we were in charge.

Rejoice, Ford Raptor fans! Today at the 2015 New York International Auto Show, Ford finally decided to cave and give the fans what they want; a V8-powered 2017 Raptor! Woohoo!

Earlier today, Ford reported to the Securities and Exchange Commission the compensation of the CEOs that were at the helm during 2014. It was a good year for both Alan Mulally and Mark Fields, but there’s an interesting little tidbit in the Mulally compensation.

Fully-autonomous self-driving cars. As enthusiasts, we cringe at the possibility of never being able to drive again. At this year’s CES, Mark Fields talked with The Wall Street Journal about autonomous cars, and he says that they’ll be on the streets in less than five years.
