2023 Ford Super Duty Platinum Regular Cab Build Is a Short Stroke of Genius
DelFAB wanted to build a 2023 Ford Super Duty Platinum regular cab with all the bells and whistles, and it managed to do so with no cutting or hacking.
Retro-styled Ford truck builds are all the rage these days, and there are currently a number of dealers and aftermarket outfits offering F-150 and Super Duty models with old fashioned wheel designs, throwback stripes, and other features designed to make those newer models look older – albeit, in a good way. One of the companies completing these conversions is DelFAB, which famously created a 2023 Ford Super Duty Platinum regular cab last year. However, as we learn in this recent video from Gas Monkey Garage, this wasn’t a terribly easy process to complete, either.
Rather, this 2023 Ford Super Duty Platinum started out life as a four-door Crew Cab model, but the owner/creator of DelFAB had a bit of a different vision in mind for it. He’s an admitted regular cab lover, but also wanted something newer and loaded with luxury and amenities. Problem is, Ford doesn’t offer any sort of regular cab pickup that most would consider anything but a work truck, so he was simply forced to create one himself.
Thus, he ordered a brand new truck along with an entire replacement frame and cab, rather than chopping up the stock piece. The beauty of this is all of those components are OEM and required no cutting or bodywork to piece together, though in this case, it’s also the most luxurious and well-equipped regular cab 2023 Ford Super Duty on the planet now, following a full interior swap into the brand new cab. As for the old truck, he gave it a new cab and sold it to recoup some of this major investment.
Of course, this build isn’t completely stock aside from its body/frame swap, which is to be expected given the fact that it debuted at last year’s SEMA Show. Rather, DelFAB gave it some high-res orange graphics that somewhat mimic the design present with the old Free Wheeling packages, which also inspired the addition of a set of white “wagon” wheels, too. There’s even an abundance of chrome to mimic the look of an old ’80s show truck, though the Super Duty doesn’t have a chrome roll bar in the bed – an omission blamed on a simple lack of time required to make something that looks right.
Ultimately, DelFAB put a ton of time and effort into this build – even using ratchets to remove and install bolts instead of an impact gun – to ensure that it’s as OEM as possible, and those efforts clearly paid off. This 2023 Ford Super Duty looks like nothing else on the road, packs tons of old school flair, and runs and drives like it should from the factory – a combination that someone will undoubtedly be willing to pony up for, as this cool build is currently up for sale.
