2024 Carlisle Ford Nationals Celebrates 70 Years of the Y-Block
The 2024 Carlisle Ford Nationals will celebrate 70 years of the Y-Block in style, coupled with a host of other notable milestones.
Among the many amazing automotive showcases on Carlisle Event’s calendar, the one we look forward to the most – for obvious reasons – is the Carlisle Ford Nationals, which has long been an important component of the organization’s docket. While almost every year presents the opportunity to celebrate something Blue Oval related, the 2024 Carlisle Ford Nationals has several milestones to highlight, too. In fact, 2024 marks the 50th year of Carlisle Events after it was founded back in 1974, but it also marks 70 years of the Y-Block engine and 30 years that the event itself has been supported by various car clubs, to name just a few.
To help celebrate these various milestones, the 2024 Carlisle Ford Nationals will feature a Y-Block Reunion in the National Parts Depot Showfield portion of the Carlisle Fairgrounds, which aims to pay homage to one of the more successful engines in Blue Oval history. The Y-Block simply dominated the V8 market from 1954-1964, whether it was used in Ford or Mercury models, and it also replaced the iconic Flat Head as the enthusiast’s engine of choice, to boot.
In addition to this special Y-Block Reunion, there will be plenty of modern Blue Oval machines to soak in as well, with two new class offerings in the same space, both dedicated to RTR vehicles – Class 190, which consists of RTR Mustangs, and Class 195, which is devoted to all non-Mustang RTR models. Additionally, as part of the celebration, organizers will be celebrating the charter car clubs that have participated in the Carlisle Ford Nationals since its inception in 1995, too.
In addition to these celebrations, the 2024 Carlisle Ford Nationals will also mark the 60th anniversary of the Ford Mustang with an array of rare and historically notable models in Building T, a special display with one pony car from every year it’s been in production, coupled with a 50 year celebration for the Mustang II and a 40th anniversary display for Ford’s Special Vehicle Operation (SVO) outfit.
Those interested in participating in the 2024 Carlisle Ford Nationals have several ways to do so. If you have a special vehicle you want to show off at the annual event, registration is open now, and a select few will wind up in a featured display, too.
