1211 Code

Hey guys! I have a 97 psd and i had a guy replace my oil pan for $900. When I went to pick up the truck the bill was $1500 he said he had to replce the two fuel lines in the front of the engine and replaced 2 trans lines plus a brake line. Well had no choice but to pay this crook. I drove the truck home and it ran fine, I started it up the next day end my engine light came on and was running like ****. I called the guy up and took it back he finally got the engine light on and said that it had a code 1211 and said that was a big code. Could have something been knocked around from pulling the engine out?

Well I got the truck back and he thinks it might be a IPR or Lift pump. Any suggestions?

Check the ICP sensor,, make sure the connection is clean & there is no oil leaking from it....Check the connections to the valve covers also,,,,,

I would take the truck and run! he stole from you once! don't let him do it again! BTW I would not have paid the first bill. Shops are required to get approval before doing more repairs even if they are part of an approved job! did you apy by credit card by chance?

Well, from my newly aquired "Non-generic Ford Code List it is:

1211 (2) ICP Pressure Above/Below Desired Level-Faulty IPR Valve.

1211 (1) (3) ICP Pressure uncontrollable, Pressure Above/Below desired Level.

Hope this helps.

X7 KOER ON-DEMAND DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P1211
  • DTC P1211 indicates that injection control pressure was above or below commanded desired pressure during self test mode.
  • Possible causes:
    • incorrect oil or viscosity
    • poor oil quality
    • gel fuel/no fuel
    • low fuel pressure
    • damaged IPR valve
    • high-pressure oil system leak
    • damaged high-pressure oil pump
    • damaged PCM
  • Verify correct oil quality/viscosity and correct fuel grade are being used for the temperature conditions.
Is oil and fuel quality OK?

ok I cleared the codes it came back on. and when it started I heard like a lifter taping in the rear of the engine. Also now i have fuel leaking underneath by the starter. It was 27 degrees out and when the truck warmed up the taping noise has quit.I shut it off and started it again and no code. Then I shut it off waited a couple of hours and started it up again and the light cam back on. now what do you think!
