Have a constant service engine soon light - and pulled a code of P1211. Found on the web P1211 = ICP Not Controllable - Pressure Abow/Below Desired. Any idea's what the ICP is and why I might have lost control? Truck seems to be running fine - but getting ready to go on a week long camping trip in a couple of days. Thanks in advance - appreciate the help...

Reason: spelling error
ICP= Injection Control Pressure sensor which is located in the front of the engine driver side cylinder head area. It works in tandem with the IPR(Injection Pressure Regulator) to control hydraulic oil pressure to the injectors. Check the electrical connections at the sensor.

It's funny...been a member of this forum for about 6 months - and constanty find myself asking "why didn't he just do a search"? Then, in my zeal to get an answer to "my" question - I go and do the same darn thing. Looks like there is plenty of information on P1211. Looks like I have some reading to do...
Is the code on all the time? If you clear the SES light does it just come back?
That code is pretty normal with a chip, and with a stock HPOP it will usually happen under heavy throttle applications. But, if it's on all the time, you could have an HPOP going out.
Thanks JT. On all the time. Been on for the last week. Have not tried clearing it yet. I'll give that a shot and see if it comes right back on (have a feeling it will). But you are correct, it did start with a heavy throttle application (passing). Thanks again...

One thing to note as well, on our early 99 trucks we have a slightly different HPOP than the later models. It doesn't flow as much oil as we have smaller injectors. I get the same code quite often and hasn't affected performance at all. But then again, mine isn't staying on either it more flashes.
Every time I got it (pre BTS dual HPOP), it would only stay on for a minute or so, then the SES light would turn itself off, although the code was stored in the computer. That light staying on all the time would have me worried.
i picked up a new oem icp (in the bag) on fleabay for $40
it rides as a spare along with the spare cps. this forum has taught me a lot. my wife laughs at all the spare things I have riding in the toolbox- she asked when I was going to throw the spare powerstroke in there.
Okay - checked all the connections - all checked out. Thinking that the truck could be more like me that I like to admit (you know, get something on my mind and can't let it go) , I decided to clear the code and see if it comes back. Ran it hard on the freeway - nothing, no SES light. So I guess I will just wait and see. Going to order a IPR & maybe a ICP off fleebay, never hurts to carry spares I guess and beats the heck outta paying stealership prices.
Just a little more background - was running (empty) in 80hp mode when the light came on. Just changed the oil 500 miles ago - and the level is fine. Thanks everyone for your suggestions - I really appreciate it. All the best...
Mark, like JT said, when under heavy acceleration(going from 50-85 uphill to pass a Chevy for fun) in my 80 econo setting from DP, my SES light came on. I had only had my chip for a week and thought here we go $$$$$$. I cleared the code and it has not come back (but I have not yet had to pass that Chevy again either )
Thanks Lushman. Comforting to know. Looking at the bright side, my voice of reason (wife) now see's the need for me to have my own code reader - so I get a new tool outta the deal! Thanks for you feedback...
I thought I was going to get a code reader out of the deal for the same reason since my wife didn't like the SES light on, but the Autozone a mile from my house actually has a loaner program where you can borrow them for free! Now I will need a different excuse to get one.
