ABS Light Comes On... no abs

My ABS system no longer works. The ABS light now comes on and stays on.

I called one dealer and was told that the "diagnostic" would cost $130.
Yikes....

Any suggestions guys? What should I do?

Are you sure your ABS systems is not working. Your VSS could be bad and causing your ABS light to come on. $25-30 fix if that is problem.

What's a VSS?

I think it's not working since I had to do an emergency brake this morning and the rear tires locked and showed smoke. Plus, I didn't feal the pulsation.

I'm thinking you may have more success in the 'Super Duty' forum. I would go there and do a search using 'VSS' or Vehicle Speed Sensor...I know there was a recent post that will probably help you. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks! There were a lot of posts regarding this particular problem. Most recommended to replace or clean the VSS module. Kragen has it for $11.99 (Raybestos part# ABS530780)

Had the same problem, ABS light came on intermittently and eventually stayed on. In checking out the info on this forum, I took the most economical route to begin and replaced the rear sensor. Under $20 and fixed the problem. Easy to do but make sure the area is clean before removing the sensor. Sensor is located on the drivers side front top of the differential.

I have the exact same situation. Here's a good thread on it: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=404399
