I have an 04 350 diesel and lately the ABS light comes on as soon as i start my truck and stays on. Does anybody have any idea whatsover the problem is ????????
Do you have any problems with your speedo working properly? The reason I ask is if your speedo is also on the fritz it is most likely your rear abs sensor which has the speedo hooked up to it. Easy to replace and cheap. It is located on top of the rear diff housing, the only wire that goes in there.
The other option would be one of your front abs sensors is out. That you would need to get a scanner on your truck with the abs function to find out which side it would be. From there you could replace only the abs sensor, or shop for a new hub bearing that would come with the abs and just replace your whole hub unit. I went with the whole hub unit, and infact replaced both sides at the same time.
your rear sensor could be bad and you still get a speedo that works just fine, your best and cheapest bet would to go get the code read it could be alot of different parts that went bad
I noticed if I'm going down the road and my ABS light comes on....my Speedo drops to zero and then goes back up to speed. I also noticed, if I'm on the highway with cruise control on, if the ABS light kicks on....my cruise control disengages. With that indicate a rear ABS sensor?

we could guess all day the best thing to do is go get the code
ABS light still on
What do you do after you checked the wiring, plugged in new sensors and still find nothing wrong??????????????
kbub
well did you clear the code, otherwise you have to drive it and the light will go out if all is ok, you just can't plug something in and hope it works what was the code?
As I inindicated after testing with new sensors I had and checking the wiring, the abs light is still on. No I did not clear the code.
I believe I may have a bad ABS computer(one located up by the pumpkin).
As for "trying something", I have NEW sensors in the box. One by one I plugged them in and nothing changed.
did you drive the truck because the trucks has to be moved to register the abs has been fixed ( sometimes depends on original problem) so while guessing at the sensors hoping they would work now thinking it is the abs module did you think that it could be the sensor ring missing a tooth or being cracked? so what is the code you got? don't forget it could also be the hcu
standard will not work, I use an auto enginuity with ford package when my ABS light was on, code indicated RF checked wiring and found broken wire, repaired cleared code all is well

I'm at the dealership getting oil changed. Told them my ABS light is on, asked how much to scan it. He proceeds to tell mr $103 just to scan it!! I said "let me know when my oil change is done". LOL.

well to be fair the price isn't just to scan it, it's to diag it the code just tells where to start they still have to run down and check wires test parts
now back to being on your side $103 is pretty damn expensive for an hourly rate are you in a major city?
