What does it mean when the ABS light comes on? My 00 X is still driving good and isn't making any funny noises. I'm wondering if it didn't come on for just a maintenance check??
Any ideas?
Thanks
If the ABS light is on the ABS system on your truck shuts down. Most likely you have a bad wheel speed sensor. Remember that while the warning light is on you dont have ABS.
Funny that when I noticed my transmission temperature gauge started to climb, my ABS light came on. I pulled over and let it cool down, restarted it, put it in drive and it turned off. Same thing happened when I switched the battery. Don't know why that is.

Thanks for the help. Is it still safe to drive it? We're getting ready to take a mini vacation next week and we're going to be pulling our travel trailor.
You're shepherds look fantastic.
It's safe to drive but your ABS will not work and your brakes could lock up in a panic stop. Just keep that in mind. Thanks for the compliments on my buddies.
Low battery voltage will do some weird things with relays falling out. But as the Shepherd's said it is safe to drive but you should have it checked for the codes as a loose connector at one of the sensor's could be a simple fix.
I hate any warning lights on when driving.
With winter coming I would have that ABS light checked out. Innova Electronics makes a couple really cool testers that do Check Engine and ABS testing. The product numbers are the INNOVA 3150 and 3160. Well worth the money, and they'll help you pinpoint the problem without having to guess.
